SeaSentinel

Who are we?

Since the establishment of the SeaSentinel Programme by Igor Rusiecki in November 2021, over 100 students have participated in its activities at some point in time. Our team brings together students and doctoral candidates from various years and fields of study. Students specializing in computer science, ocean engineering, mechanical engineering, electronics, telecommunications, automation, and robotics will all find something for themselves in the SeaSentinel Programme.

What do we do?

So far, two vehicles have been built: ASV Perkoz and ASV Rybitwa. Both were constructed to participate in the RoboBoat competition, achieving 9th place (out of 21 teams) and 7th place (out of 16 teams) in consecutive editions of the contest. The latest project of our team is the ASV Zimorodek, which we are preparing for the RoboBoat 2025 competition.

Our mission?

Maritime Autonomous Surface Ships are one of the main directions of development in the maritime industry in the 21st century. SeaSentinel Programme stemmed from a vision of a safer, more cost-effective maritime world. We aim to educate students of Gdańsk University of Technology in the field of autonomous vehicles.

How do we work?

Through their work in the Programme, students have the opportunity to acquire or enhance both engineering-specific skills, such as 3D modeling, programming, soldering, designing printed circuit boards, 3D printing, working with technical documentation, and manufacturing laminate components, as well as soft skills such as teamwork, communication, self-organization, creativity, and discipline. This goal is achieved through the construction and development of Autonomous Surface Vehicle technologies.
