Sea Ideas was born from the idea of implementing a maritime industry project in SimLE. The team’s task was to design and build a multimedia station for the interactive exhibition of the Remontowa Shipyard – “Ships. Our passion” at the National Maritime Museum in Gdańsk.
Over a dozen people were involved in this project, including students of the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk operating under SimLE.
In preparation for the project, we explored the topic of the maritime industry, and also visited a similar exhibition at the museum in Oslo.
The team prepared a number of equipment proposals for the exhibition, which were then presented and evaluated. The stand called “Virtual Ship Inspection” was finally implemented.
The stand consisted of software prepared by us with selected graphics and a game console, which is a simulator that allows players to play the role of inspector of a selected ship. The participant’s task is to find and document faults. The device was available at the National Maritime Museum in Gdańsk.
In addition, we have created the application “Battleship”, in which the player plays the role of a fleet commander and his task is to sink enemy units.
The Sea Ideas project was implemented in cooperation with Remontowa Holding, DNV and I3D.
In 2015, Sea Ideas was nominated in the competition of the Red Rose Association in the category “Marine education of students”.
